I am from Idaho, and have been in the area since Harvey helping with disaster relief. Last night I was visiting a church that had been destroyed in the Hurricane and was having church in a tent in the parking lot. Apparently they have a neighbor with a history of calling the police on the church and last night was no different. What followed however, was the biggest display of disregard for the US Constitution I have ever seen from Law Enforcement. A woman officer walked to the front during song service and demanded to talk to the pastor. From the platform he told her that he would not stop the service and would talk to her afterwards and asked her to leave the tent. Apparently she got her feelings hurt, because she called for backup to try to shut down the service and accused someone of "touching her in a threatening manner". We kept on having church until 4 cops marched to the front and demanded the pastor come with them. The officers then threatened the pastor with arrest if we didn't quiet down. First off, he wasn't making the noise, WE (the congregation) we're by worshipping God and singing. Second, no laws (or even city ordinances) we're broken and the appalling false allegation of battery on a Law Enforcement officer (a felony!!!) was an outrageous attempt to vilify the pastor and get an excuse to forcefully shut down a religious service! I respect Law Enforcement and pray for their safety in a mostly thankless job, but this was situation was rediculous, and hopefully not in line with the standard behavior of Aransas Pass PD.
They have always come when I had to call. They were great when a man was around our kids. They would watch our kids at the bus stop morning and evening. When they found him they check him out . Thanks officers for being there for our kids
Love the lord
